at the ECoC 2025

The International Jury, chaired by Prof. Roger Riewe, announced Studio Associato di Architettura Baglivo Negrini (Italy) as the winner of the ECoC 2025.

ECoC 2025 - International Ideas and Projects Competition for the Urban Development of "Piazzale della Transalpina/TRG Europe" in Nova Gorica (Slovenia) / Gorizia (Italy) was supported by the Union Internationale des Architectes (UIA). The urban regeneration project, which connects the Italian city of Gorizia with the Slovenian city of Nova Gorica and creates a common central area to be known as Europe Square - Piazzale Della Transalpina and the EPICenter hub, was carried out as part of a campaign for the title of European Capital of Culture 2025 (ECoC).

The jury selected the most significant works that best represent the idea of a new common territory across the border, a European and cultural connection that supports the candidacy of Nova Gorica and Gorizia as European Capital of Culture 2025. Of the 56 projects that arrived, 54 were accepted for evaluation. The countries with the most participants were Italy (19), Slovenia, Spain and France (5), making a total of 18 countries, including Uganda, the Russian Federation and Japan. Among them were 7 groups of mixed nationality, with professionals from up to 4 different countries.
