The EUROSPAR store in Leibnitz offered the opportunity not only to send out a strong regional economic message by means of a new architectural development, but also to initiate a pioneering supermarket and service centre whose landmark character reaches beyond the region. The functional efficiency of the building on several different levels derives not least from the clear structure of an industrial hall construction on a uniform grid: with its spacious glazed front extending the length of the building, the store invites visitors to come inside, while also enabling the operator to focus customer attention on the goods thanks to a clear-cut functional division. The sleek, wide-spanning canopy of the SPAR store suggests maximum openness, almost as if you could drive your car right into the store. By combining added value for customers and added efficiency for the operator with the multifaceted character of the building, the result is an interplay of functions and impressions.
